Legos and Oracle

One of my favorite toys growing up were Lego blocks. With a small variety of blocks and a big imagination, I could build almost anything. Cars, space ships, forts, guns (okay...pretty much a complete boy growing up). And this was in the day when they had less than 20 distinct types and sizes of blocks.

SQL is a lot like Lego. You don't have a lot to work with, but a little imagination can lead you to write some amazing code. I've been working a great deal recently with using analytical sql to extract data from the Statspack tables. I write a bit of code to deal with one scenario, extract and present data in a particular format, address an issue with statspack data...and find that I can use that bit of code (sometimes with minor tweaks) to extract and present other data.

Look for some of this code to show up on my site in March (I'm re-re-deploying to a new server at the end of February).
