The conference planning committee invites all interested parties to submit abstract proposals for presentation at the KCOUG Training Day 2008. We are excited to announce that Charlie Garry will be our Keynote Speaker. Mr. Garry has over 20 years of experience in Information Technology. He is a former Vice President and Director for META Group’s Technology Research Services. Mr. Garry’s focus has been on relational database and infrastructure design, support staffing, licensing/pricing and data management best practices. Throughout his career, Mr. Garry has worked with hundreds of companies delivering support and education in areas such as database design, performance tuning, backup/recovery, licensing and negotiation strategies. He has been a frequently requested speaker at noted database conferences such as Oracle World, IOUG, IDUG, Teradata Partners and the MySQL User Conference and was the author of a regular column for eWEEK.com. Mr. Garry was a founding member of Divine Interventures and Vice President of Infrastructure Strategies for Platinum Technology as well as Director of Field Operations for Platinum’s data warehousing/BI division.Kansas City Oracle Users Group

Abstracts of interest will be technically oriented toward topics of interest to Oracle DBAs,
Developers or APS. Presentations should focus on problem solving techniques limiting commercial endorsement to the absolute minimum.

All abstracts for oral presentations should be emailed as a Word or RTF attachment by August 20th 2008. Abstracts should be 500 words or less, typed in Times New Roman, 12 font. Please include authors name(s) and institution(s), title of presentation, a contact persons name, address, telephone number, and email address. Abstracts should reflect original, current work and should be sent to: speakers@kcoug.org Authors of selected papers will be notified by August 31st. The presenter will receive complementary registration to Training Day 2008 but will be responsible for their transportation, meals and lodging.
